Nasomatto

The story behind Nasomatto
Gualtieri was born in Milan in 1967 into a family of butchers and gardeners, and learned the chemistry of molecules in Germany, as an apprentice at a historic raw materials company. After years spent creating fragrances for big-name brands, in 2007 he founded Nasomatto in Amsterdam. His second project, , arrived in 2014. Neither brand publishes fragrance pyramids: for Gualtieri, revealing the structure limits the experience of the person smelling it!
The best-selling Nasomatto perfumes
The perfume that turned the brand into a cult is : green cannabis in the opening, then woods, resins and tobacco in a dark, smoky base. Incredibly recognisable: an olfactory signature that gets noticed. plays on white flowers instead, between tuberose, jasmine, lily and a spiced touch. It certainly isn't the maestro's wildest creation, but it wins you over straight away with a bold, faintly sinful femininity. If you love floral women's perfumes, you really should try it.
How to choose your Nasomatto
If you love dark, resinous perfumes, start with Black Afgano; for something warm and liqueur-like there's , while is still the driest and woodiest of the collection. On white flowers, the reference is Narcotic V. The whole line is , so the concentration is high and both sillage and longevity are seriously powerful. If you're trying a Nasomatto for the first time, start with a couple of sprays and only later, once you've worked out whether the perfume really is for you, think about going heavier. With Alessandro Gualtieri's perfumes it's often better not to trust your first impression completely: they need a few hours to be properly understood!
Nasomatto FAQs
What is the most famous Nasomatto perfume?
Black Afgano. Created after six years of research and launched in 2009, it's the fragrance that made Nasomatto a cult brand: cannabis, woods, resins and tobacco in a dark, smoky extrait. It's also the most common starting point for anyone discovering the house.
Why doesn't Nasomatto list fragrance notes?
It's the founder's choice. Alessandro Gualtieri believes that listing raw materials influences the person smelling and limits the experience, so Nasomatto doesn't release official fragrance pyramids. The notes you read on our product pages are there to guide you, but the brand invites you to interpret every fragrance freely.
Where can I buy Nasomatto perfumes?
At 50 ml, online or in store. We're an authorised retailer, so every bottle is genuine, and you'll also find the collection at our niche perfumery in Milan, Viale Monte Nero 16, where our fragrance specialists will guide you through the testing.
